Transition

Transition from Nursery to Reception

All Parents are informed by letter that their child has a place in Reception, they are then invited to an Induction meeting in the Summer Term before their child starts school. At the Induction meeting all parents are signposted to this website to gain access to the School Prospectus and all necessary literature to read at their leisure. They are shown examples of the uniform and talked through all the information. Head teacher, Reception Teacher and Learning Assistants are introduced to the parents.

At the Induction meeting parents are asked to make an appointment for their one-to-one meeting in the Summer term. This interview is in place of a home visit.

During the Summer term, all parents will attend an interview with their child. At the interview, the Reception Teacher will answer any questions the parent has and go through all permission forms, home school agreements etc with the parents and the parents will sign them. The child will take part in activities with the Learning Assistant in order to gain a baseline assessment on entry if the child has not attended our Nursery.

During the first week of term in September, all children will attend school for part days increasing throughout the week. All children will start school full time during the second week.

Reception children will start their lunchtime earlier than KS1 in order to give them enough time to eat their lunch.
