Reverend Harry Wood - Vice-Chair

Based at St Thomas Church, I am currently interim team vicar within the St Helens Town Centre team. I served my Curacy at St Helens Parish Church, and before that worked in Engineering for some 28 years. I’m delighted to be at St Thomas Church, and equally so to be involved with St Mary and St Thomas School. I’m was born in St Helens, serving my apprenticeship at Beecham's in the town centre and I have seen the landscape of the town change over the years. I’m totally convinced that the part our schools play in the lives of young people goes beyond solely academic achievement, and I’m delighted to support staff and governors wherever possible in the immeasurably valuable work they do.

David Cross - Foundation

I was educated locally in St Helens and trained in hairdressing from the age of 15, I have worked for myself for over 52 years.

I've been actively involved with the St Helens branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society voluntarily for over 50 years. In that time, I have been chairman of the Branch 2 of the North-West Association and also the chairman of St Helens Council for Voluntary Services. I describe my role as head of the family, my MS family.

I became church warden of St Thomas church nine years ago and play a full role in all church social events.

My hobbies include gardening, communicating with people of all ages and for the past 14 years, annually organasing a Celebration of Christmas, hosted by the MS Society. Bringing St Thomas' church and the Society together to help make people aware of Multiple Sclerosis.

Canon Geoff Almond - Foundation

Geoff has been a school governor for over forty years. He is currently a governor of two schools, including ours.

Geoff was a primary school headteacher for over eighteen years before retirement. He is currently Chair of the Liverpool Diocesan Board of Education.He is Lay Dean of Huyton Deanery.

Geoff is married with two grown up children and four grandchildren. He and his wife worship at Prescot Parish Church.

Louisa Stott - Parent

I am very honoured to be appointed foundation parent governor here at St Mary's & St Thomas. I am keen and excited to be involved in the success of this school. I have had 3 children attend this school and they have always enjoyed their time here. I have completed voluntary work also at this school and delivered Money Minds session to the children. I look forward to seeing what is ahead for St Mary & St Thomas.

Florinda Spahiu - Parent

I am excited to join the governing body as a parent governor and contribute to the continued success of the school. I work as a Purchase Ledger Manager and I have 2 children in this school. I am new to the role but I am excited to learn my way whilst also ensuring the children continue to receive the amazing care and educational support that the school is providing.
